Disassembly and assembly of a laptop.
Disassembly
-Remove the power supply and battery.
-Remove the hinge plate cover just above the keyboard using a philips head screwdriver. This reveals the motherboard.
-Take the screws around the keyboard out to remove keyboard and detatch any cables under the keyboard.
-Begin disassembling the motherboard. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew the large screw located in the center of the motherboard. This screw is holding two large metal plates covering the motherboard together.
-Use the Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew the cooling fan panel; you will need to unscrew three screws located around the fan, then lift the cooling fan out of its holder.
-The motherboard and cooling fan now can be dettatched and replaced or cleaned.
-Close the laptop. Place a clean, thin dishcloth over the motherboard and gently close the screen. Turn the entire laptop over so that the base is now facing up and the battery is facing away from you.
-The hard drive is located in the bottom right hand corner; the memory unit is located in the center of the laptop. Both of these are unscrewed by removing the small screws at the bottom of each unit. Remove the covers on each.
-The Wi-Fi unit is located at the top left of the laptop; remove the two screws from this unit and lift the Wi-Fi cover off the laptop.
-Gently pull the RAM module out of the slot by disengaging the spread latches on either side of the memory unit.
-Remove the three screws on the right hand side of the hard drive unit and lift the hard drive out.
-Remove the screw securing the CD/DVD drive into the laptop base, then pop the drive open with a paper clip. Carefully pull the CD/DVD drive out of the computer and set it aside.
-Then take out the screws surrounding the screen, usually found in the corners of the screen
-After unscrewing with the phillips head, use an even smaller flat head screwdriver preferably a jewlers screwdriver to unhinge the snaps attatching the moniter cover to the rest of the screen, after carefully prying the snaps out all the way around the screen cover whilst watching out for glue tape and it should leave the led screen exposed.
